My Favorite Cake Pans

Obviously you are going to need some cake pans! I am a big fan of Wiltons Cake Pans, well honestly all of their products. I like to make all different sized cakes and have been loving these since the start. A good cake pan makes all the difference to get your cake layers nice and evenly.

If you want to get only a few cake pans to start out I would recommend getting a set of the round cake pans. I always find myself going for my round pans. They are definitely the ones that have been used most!

Turntable

One of the most essential tools anyone needs is a steady turntable in my opinion! I have tried out different ones and this is by far my favorite! It turns so quietly and smoothly. Having a turntable that spins smoothly helps a ton when you’re trying to smooth out the sides of a cake!

Cake Boards

I found these on Amazon not to long ago and it’s one of the best things I have purchased to make my cake life even more enjoyable. I used to cut out my own cake boards from boxes and then wrap them in aluminum foil. It was the part I most dreaded doing. Also I love that they are white. A white background always makes the cake look more elegant and just has a cleaner look to it over all.

Spatula

Another thing I always use are Offset Spatulas. I know many use and love smoothing out their cakes with a bench scraper. For me an offset spatula is what I get my cakes the smoothest with! I have tried using a bench scraper on whipped cream and just couldn’t really feel how much pressure I needed to apply when smoothing the cake out. I guess that could also be because I started out with a spatula and have always done all practicing with a spatula. So that is more a preference of each decorator.

I also use the offset spatulas to stack my cake tiers. When you work with whipped cream you have to be really careful to touch as little as possible of the cake when stacking. For that you will definitely need a spatula.

Piping Bags

Here are my favorite piping bags. I like the 10 in bags. They are not too big and not small to do all the piping. In my opinion they are the perfect size!

I also like the 14 in bags to completely cover my cakes in whipped cream. I use Wiltons Cake Icing Tip No. 789, insert it in the bag and cover my cakes.

Cake Decorating Caddy

Another thing I love is my Cake Decorating Caddy. I know this is not really essential when it comes to decorating, but I love that I have place for all my food coloring and Tips. I store all my small cake decorating tools in this box and get it out whenever I’m decorating. It’s so easy to handle and makes decorating more fun!

I can’t find the exact one I have anymore but I linked a similar one.

Gel Food Coloring

You will also need some Gel Food Coloring. When working with whipped cream you want to make sure to use Gel Food Coloring. If you use a liquid coloring the cream will loose its consistency. So far I’ve only tried Wiltons Gel Food coloring. I did order some gel coloring from Americolor. I’m still waiting on it but I will definitely let you all know how I like those!

I also have a video showing these and many more of my favorite cake tools. Make sure to check it out to see how I use them. And for some more additional tools!

Those are my favorite and most used cake tools! If you have any questions let me know. You can email me anytime on my contact form or comment on this post. I’d be happy to help you however I can.
